The Life of Sgt. Ryan Lindenbaum

Sgt. Ryan "Hercules" Lindenbaum was a brother, a son, a friend, and a police officer.  More importantly, Ryan is the inspriation behind The Hercules Foundation. In May 2014, Ryan was diagnosed with Stage IV Glioblastoma Multiforme, an incredibly malignant form of cancer that affects the brain. Ryan displayed amazing strength during his year-long battle against this devastating disease, but succumbed to his illness on August 27, 2015.

Ryan was a fun-loving teddy bear who was lovingly referred to as “Hercules” by his fellow police officers. Ryan had a warm personality, an infectious smile, and an unforgettable laugh. Ryan was a natural born leader, a superior police officer (2010 Fairfax County Police Officer of the Year), and a lover of golf.

The Hercules Foundation was established to honor Ryan’s memory and his love of life. Our mission is to continue Ryan’s legacy - his compassion for others, dedication to excellence, and love of competition. The foundation honors Ryan’s love of golf through its annual 314546 Invitational Golf tournament – inspired by Ryan’s FCPD badge number.
